ATTENTION: PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR LONGER WAIT TIMES.
We are currently experiencing a very high influx in cases needing emergency and critical care attention. Please note that the highest priority cases will be seen first regardless of arrival time. Patients that are more stable may wait several hours before being seen.

Urgent care is our area of expertise here at AEC of Durham Region. Whether your pet is going through an accident, injury, complications or unexplained symptoms – we are here to care for them when other hospitals are closed. Our colleagues from other clinics refer their patients to our team, so you can have peace of mind that we are a trusted center here in our community.

When are you open?

We are open 24 hours a day.

Do I need to make an appointment before taking my pet to your hospital?

Not at all. Please call or come to us ASAP if you believe your pet is experiencing a medical emergency. We prefer pet owners to call us in advance, so we can provide you with useful tips such as proper ways to transport your pet. That being said, please do not think twice to come to us directly, especially during after-hours when your primary veterinary hospital is closed.

How do I know if my pet needs urgent care?

  • Bleeding
  • Choking
  • Toxin exposure
  • Swallowed objects
  • Hard or swollen belly
  • Fainting/loss of consciousness
  • Laboured breathing
